History
Jumbo Judaica of Texas started as a hobby 35 years ago...
It all began right before Chanukah in 1986. Our founder, Shoshana Traxler, started selling Judaica items in a grocery store called "Jumbo" with just three little tables covered in her favorite holiday items. At the time, there was not a Jewish bookstore and gift shop in the Houston area.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe always said that a home should be filled with Jewish books and Shoshana sought to fulfill his vision in as many Jewish homes in Houston as possible. This went hand in hand with Shoshana's lifelong work of being an emissary of the Rebbe.
After a while, she moved the merchandise into her home. Eventually, she opened the present location in the Fondren Southwest neighborhood of Houston where Jumbo Judaica of Texas has happily provided service for 23 years and counting.
